About the role

When you are successful in this role, you’ll have the joy of engaging Christians across Australia as partners with Tearfund, helping to create meaningful and impactful avenues to respond to global poverty and injustice. You’ll share stories of transformation from communities around the world, drawing attention to global challenges and celebrating the good news of Jesus at work in hard places.

This part time role (0.8 FTE) will play a critical part strengthening Tearfund’s brand and reputation as a trusted voice and impactful partner among Christians and churches across Australia.

Position Location: A mix of in office at Blackburn, Melbourne (with hybrid possibilities depending on business needs).

The PA forms a strong working partnership with the APD and supports them through management of a portfolio of administrative responsibilities, including supporting the Australian Program Leadership Team (APLT). The role spans regular administration, relationship management and communication, reporting and data management, events and external stakeholder management within a Christian discipleship framework. You will be energised by working both directly with the APD as well as the wider leadership team in helping ensure the success of Tearfund’s supporter engagement work in Australia.

This part time (21 hours per week - flexible) role will play a critical part in Tearfunds’ supporter engagement strategy and offers you some flexibility to choose your work hours.

What this role will require...

  • Active Christian faith and strong commitment to Tearfund’s Christian mission, values and ethos
  • Ability to encourage others in their faith and justice journeys, and to influence supporters to partner with Tearfund as a meaningful and impactful way to respond to global poverty and injustice
  • Ability to work proactively, independently as well as collaboratively
  • A passion for storytelling with exceptional writing and editorial skills
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible content
  • Proven track record in creating compelling content for multiple channels (print, email, digital) and diverse audiences
  • Project management experience in delivering high-quality communications publications on time and on budget
  • Tertiary qualifications in Media/Communications, Theology, Journalism, Education or related field.
  • Understanding of the Australian Christian church/landscape and theological perspectives on social justice, development and poverty
