Thanks to your generous support, over $223,000 has been raised to help Tearfund's partner provide vital aid to over 12,000 people displaced in Lebanon. Since this appeal was launched, MERATH continues to respond to people’s needs, distributing core relief items, providing cash assistance and psychosocial support. Read the update.
Families in Lebanon are fleeing for their lives again. Help provide urgent support to the most vulnerable caught in this humanitarian crisis.
“I cannot explain in words how difficult it is to leave everything you hold dear behind without knowing if and when you will be able to go back.”
– Amir*, father of three.
Lebanon is facing a fast‑deteriorating humanitarian situation, with intense airstrikes and ground attacks resulting in mass displacement. Since March 2, 700,000 people, including 200,000 children, have been forced to flee their homes. This has placed overwhelming pressure on families and local support systems already impacted by previous conflict, economic collapse and a breaking healthcare system.

Shelters are reaching full capacity. Exhausted families are forced to sleep in cars, on streets, or in overcrowded makeshift arrangements. Those who are reaching shelters are often met with no emergency supplies.
No one should face a crisis like this alone. Together, we can ensure the most vulnerable are protected.
Tearfund’s local partners in Lebanon are asking the Australian Church for support. They are on the ground right now, pivoting their programs to meet families in their moment of greatest need with life saving assistance:
Forced to Flee at 3:00 AM
Amir*, his wife and three sons, awoke to the sound of airstrikes and were told to leave their home immediately. With no time to pack, they began a gruelling journey to safety. It wasn’t until 10:30 PM that they reached a public school, where Tearfund’s partner MERATH (Middle East Revive and Thrive) was assisting families.
Amir had remembered how MERATH had supported them last year when they were forced to flee their home, “I contacted them and they told us we would be welcome if we needed a place to shelter. Thank God, they took us in…”
“You get extremely worried about your children,” Amir shares, sheltering in the same school as he did last year, “and how you can keep on providing for them and keeping them safe.”
MERATH is working with a strong network of local churches to live out the gospel, empowering and equipping them to care for the most vulnerable, displaced and crisis affected people in their communities.
A local church worker shares her experience, “MERATH was the first to support us. People are reaching out to us shy, sad and broken. I am encouraged by MERATH’s trust in us and by the way they know how to respond efficiently.” The church has already begun distributing mattresses and warm blankets for the cold nights. Next they hope to secure supplies like food and hygiene kits that families desperately need.
While headlines now focus on military developments and geopolitical consequences, we remain committed to strengthening local churches and Christian leaders, supporting families affected by violence, and fostering reconciliation between communities.
In these moments of immense trial, let us be reminded that “if one part suffers, every part suffers with it” (1 Corinthians 12:26). Tearfund’s partners, alongside the local church in Lebanon, are already doing what they can to support those who have fled with nothing. Right now, as members of one body, we can stand alongside those in crisis.
Please give generously today so our partners can provide refuge and life-saving essentials for families who have already lost so much.
