During 2016-2017 Tearfund developed a new Stretch RAP, which has been endorsed by Reconciliation Australia. This new RAP is Tearfund’s framework for realising our vision for reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in 2017-2020.
As with Tearfund’s previous RAPs, our RAP for 2017-2020 is based on the three pillars of Respect, Relationships and Opportunities. Tearfund is committed to working in a respectful way with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, organisations and communities. Tearfund aims to facilitate and support the raising of awareness, understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait cultures and peoples amongst our supporter base. Tearfund aims to equip and mobilise Australian Christians and the wider Australian community to work towards a more just and equitable Australian society. Internally, Tearfund aims to create an inclusive workplace where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures are understood, respected and valued.
Although Tearfund has been on a reconciliation journey for some years now, we recognise we still have some way to go. We encourage you to read our current RAP and see what we aim to achieve in 2017-2020. You may also want to consider developing a RAP for the organisation you work with.
