Over the past few decades, we have come closer than ever to ending extreme poverty. But right now, our world faces a pivotal moment. Without urgent action, the twin crises of COVID-19 and climate change threaten to undo so much of the hard-won progress that has been made.
We can empower individuals and communities facing poverty to unlock their God-given potential. However, in order to see this happen we need to work together!
Using our voices, skills, time and energy, we can transform the structures and systems which hurt, oppress and marginalise our world’s most vulnerable individuals and communities.
We believe that the Church has a crucial role to play in God’s restoration of all creation.
That’s why Tearfund works to establish, support and empower faith-based action groups which help mobilise their church and community to care for our planet and its most vulnerable people.
Tearfund comes alongside local grassroots leaders and trains them with the skills to draw together others from their community, design actions which make sense to their church and help broaden the understanding of extreme poverty, climate justice and faith.
Action groups will be invited to take part in actions and campaigns at set times in the year and be connected to the broader Tearfund movement via regular communications, gatherings and training moments.
If you are interested in starting a group in your church, we would love to hear from you!
You will receive all kinds of support including training, ongoing coaching, as well as access to Tearfund resources and events.
