There is a special kind of ache in the heart of a mother that doesn’t have enough food to feed her children. It’s an ache that weighs heavily, and which Sarafina from Zambia knows all too well.
Not long ago, she was struggling to put enough food on the table for her five children. Finding enough to eat was always a problem, and life was tough.
But through the generosity of people like you, Sarafina’s life has now been transformed.
With support from TEAR’s partner in Zambia, the Reformed Church of Zambia Diaconia, who began working in her village, she has learnt valuable farming techniques which she’s putting to good use. This year, she’s expecting a bumper crop.
Sarafina has also accessed a goat through the project and is providing milk for her family to drink as part of an increasingly nutritious diet. Not only is Sarafina now able to feed her children, but she also has the income to send them to school.
Her self-worth and confidence has grown as well. She’s become a community leader - a chairperson of the Self-Help group network in her village, representing 50 households.
Sarafina’s heart is now full of hope and the possibilities for the future.
We invite you to prayerfully consider joining this work of restoration and hope by supporting Tearfund’s partners to overcome poverty and injustice.
