You can help change water today. From dirty to clean, from out of reach to near, from a burdensome task to a source of life. Will you give the gift of water today?
For $25 one person can access clean, safe water and protection from preventable waterborne diseases. Will you help us reach our goal of $275,000, so that 11,000 people can enjoy a life-giving supply of water?
Your gift to Tearfund’s Water Relief Appeal will support Tearfund’s Christian partners across Africa, South Asia and South-East Asia, as they help thousands of people with improved water and sanitation. This includes establishing and repairing boreholes, installing water storage and filtration systems, constructing toilets and improving sanitation practices.
The Challenge
Every day, hundreds of millions of people around the world need to leave their home to collect water for their family’s needs. This water does not come easily or safely for nearly three quarters of the global population.
The lack of access to safe water pushes people into deeper poverty: water scarcity and drought remain some of the leading trends driving humanitarian needs around the world.
72% of the global population are water-insecure, including 126 million people in Pakistan.
40% of the world's population lack access to safely managed sanitation services.
Globally, diarrhoeal disease is the third leading cause of death in children under five. This injustice can largely be prevented through safe drinking water and adequate sanitation and hygiene.
Pansu lives in Pakistan, one of the world’s most water-stressed countries. Nearly 126 million people – or about half the population – lack safely managed water services, and 166 million lack safely managed sanitation services. Nearly 80 million people don’t have access to a proper toilet.
With your support, people like Pansu can access life-giving water through our partners' safe water, hygiene and sanitation projects.
Your church, school or community group can make a splash by raising funds for Tearfund’s Water Relief Appeal, helping improve access to safe water and sanitation for people facing the challenges of poverty.
