Welcome ceremonies guaranteed safe passage for groups of Indigenous people across other nations’ Country. Having a public acknowledgment or welcome at your event shows respect for Australia’s first peoples and is an important way of acknowledging the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and relationship to the land. The Guidelines for Acknowledgment or Welcome resource is designed to be a practical guide for how you can respectfully incorporate Welcomes and Acknowledgements into your events.
